Eligibility Criteria for Faculty of Science Postgraduate Writing-Up Award:

To be eligible for the Faculty of Science Postgraduate Writing-Up Award, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Have submitted your Ph.D. or MPhil thesis for review and are awaiting the review decision.
  • Have not received a comparable award.
  • Agree not to undertake full-time or significant regular part-time work (more than 10 hours per week) during the award period.
  • Have submitted your thesis within the specified timeframe, which is three years and ten months (FTE) for Ph.D. candidates or one year and eleven months (FTE) for MPhil candidates.
  • If your thesis submission was delayed due to COVID-19-related events as of April 2020, you should explain the impact on your application, and it will be considered.

International graduate researchers are required to commit to spending at least 66% of their writing-up time in Melbourne. Applicants returning to their home country after submitting their thesis are not eligible to apply.
