Scholarships within the UCI Distinguished Scholarships Category include:

1. The Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship: This scholarship is available to California residents who are freshmen coming from high school or transfer students from California Community Colleges. It is renewable for an additional consecutive year if all eligibility criteria are met.
2. The Directors’ Scholarship: This scholarship is open to domestic out-of-state applicants, as well as international students with an F1 visa. It can also be renewed for an additional consecutive year.
3. The Regents’ Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to California residents who are freshmen coming from high school or transfer students from California Community Colleges. It is automatically renewed for three consecutive years for freshmen and one consecutive year for transfer students if eligibility is maintained.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be enrolled full-time (12 units or more) each academic quarter.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or a minimum 2.5 undergraduate admissions GPA is required.
• Need-based scholarships may require the submission of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Act application for eligible applicants.
• Eligible students include those pursuing their first bachelor’s degree who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or meet the requirements of AB130 or AB131 (for California residents).
• International students are eligible to apply for UCI scholarships but are not eligible for need-based scholarships that require FAFSA or California Dream Act applications.

Application Process:

There is no separate application process for the UCI Distinguished Scholarships Category. Applicants are automatically considered for these scholarships based on their UC application for admission. Additional information or materials are not required for the selection process.

Applicants must submit their fall admission application by November 30 to be eligible for the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship, Directors’ Scholarship, and Regents’ Scholarship. Applications for the winter or spring quarters are not eligible for these scholarships.
