About the Scholarship:

The University of Birmingham DeepMind Scholarship is designed to support talented students in pursuing their career aspirations in cutting-edge fields like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham, in collaboration with DeepMind, is offering six scholarships for students who have received an unconditional or conditional offer for the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The scholarship aims to enhance diversity and accessibility in computer science, particularly for underrepresented groups, and provide opportunities for students passionate about AI and machine learning to contribute to these fields.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Six scholarships are available, three for UK students and three for international students.
  • For eligible UK students, each scholarship is worth £34,225, which covers UK tuition fees (£10,980), a maintenance allowance (£19,345), funding for attending an international conference in AI/ML (£2,200), and support for necessary equipment (£1,700).
  • For eligible international students, each scholarship is worth £52,565, which covers international tuition fees (£27,540), a maintenance allowance (£19,345), funding for attending an international conference in AI/ML (£2,200), support for necessary equipment (£1,700), and relocation expenses (£1,870).

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the University of Birmingham DeepMind Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as female OR as a member of a Black ethnicity, such as Black African, Black Caribbean, or another Black group.
  • Demonstrate that they cannot accept the admission offer without financial aid.
  • Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for the University of Birmingham’s MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program.
  • Be considered a UK resident (for fee purposes) or an overseas student (for fee purposes).

Application Procedure:

  • Scholarship applications are open only to MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning offer holders.
  • For international applicants, an email with a direct application link will be sent once an offer has been accepted. The application deadline is June 4, 2023.
  • Shortlisting of applications and interviews for qualified applicants will take place in the first two weeks of June 2023.
  • UK applicants will receive an email with a direct application link once they have accepted an offer. The application deadline is July 23, 2023.
  • Evaluation and interviews for qualified UK applicants will occur by the end of July 2023.
