About the Scholarship:

The University of Manchester is pleased to announce the Global Futures Scholarships, with a total value of over £2.9 million, for international students commencing their studies in September 2023. These scholarships are highly competitive and are open to exceptional individuals who plan to enroll in a degree program at the university for the 2023–2024 academic year. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible for the Global Futures Scholarship, and the quality of your scholarship application will be a key consideration, along with your academic achievements.

About the University of Manchester:

Situated in Manchester, England, the University of Manchester is a public research institution with its main campus located on Oxford Road, just south of Manchester City Centre. The university owns and operates significant cultural institutions, including the Manchester Museum, The Whitworth Art Gallery, The John Rylands Library, The Tabley House Collection, and The Jodrell Bank Observatory, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The University of Manchester is a red-brick institution that emerged from the late 19th-century municipal university movement. In 2004, the University of Manchester was formed through the merger of the Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), two institutions that had collaborated closely for a century. UMIST had its origins in the Mechanics’ Institute, established in 1824. The current University of Manchester officially recognizes this date as its founding year, as it is also the date when the Royal School of Medicine and Surgery, a precursor institution of the Victoria University of Manchester, was established.

The University of Manchester is a member of prestigious groups like the Russell Group, the N8 Group, and the Universities Research Association in the US. It boasts 25 Nobel laureates among its former students, current staff, and faculty, making it the fourth-ranked British university in terms of Nobel laureates (including its predecessor institutions). In the academic year 2021–2022, the university had a total revenue of £1.2 billion, with £270.6 million coming from research grants and contracts, ranking it sixth nationally after Oxford, University College London (UCL), Cambridge, Imperial, and Edinburgh. Among UK universities, it has the seventh-largest endowment.

While the University of Manchester is often referred to as having a campus, it is not a traditional campus university. Its main site, where most of its facilities are located, is centrally positioned but integrated into the city’s architecture, with non-university buildings and major roadways separating it from other parts of the city.
