About the Scholarship:

The University of Hull is offering up to 50 George W Gray International Scholarships for students pursuing chemistry programs to commemorate the discovery of the liquid crystal molecule 5CB, which led to the development of LCDs and flat screens. This scholarship aims to encourage more international students to study chemistry and follow in the footsteps of Professor George W. Gray, who played a key role in this groundbreaking discovery.

The George W Gray International Scholarships offer a tuition fee discount of £9,000 for each year of study.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the George W. Gray International Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an international student with a Chemistry study offer, starting in year 1 (Level 4), year 2 (Level 5), or year 3 (Level 6).
  • Have an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill or an equivalent score.
  • Attain a grade B in Chemistry in UK A-levels or its equivalent from high school.

Please note that meeting these requirements and applying to study at the University of Hull does not guarantee the scholarship.

The scholarship will not be awarded during the MChem Chemistry with Industrial Experience placement year when fees are significantly reduced.

How to Apply:

Applicants do not need to submit a separate application for the George W. Gray International Scholarships. All applicants who have accepted an offer to study Chemistry at the University of Hull will be automatically considered for the scholarship as part of the application process.

Applications are currently open for the September 2023 intake for the chemistry program. You can apply directly to the University of Hull or through UCAS via one of the university’s representatives in your country.
