The University of Dayton Merit Scholarship for International Students in the USA for 2023

About the University of Dayton and the Scholarship

The University of Dayton (UD), a private Catholic institution, is located in Dayton, Ohio. It is the second-largest private university in Ohio and one of three Marianist Universities in the United States, founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary. UD’s 388-acre campus is situated on both sides of the Great Miami River in the southern part of the city. The University of Dayton Arena and Immaculate Conception Chapel are iconic landmarks on the campus.

As of the fall of 2020, UD had 11,347 full-time students from diverse racial, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. The university offers over 80 academic programs in fields such as arts, sciences, business management, education, health sciences, engineering, and law. In 2009, UD introduced one of the first undergraduate human rights degree programs. UD is classified as an “R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity” institution.

Admission to the University of Dayton has become increasingly competitive, with a drop in acceptance rates from 82% in 2003 to just 52% in 2015. The university also continues to attract out-of-state and international students, with nearly 50% of undergraduate students coming from outside Ohio, including more than 10% of international students.

In 2013, the university implemented an innovative net-price tuition plan that guarantees a student’s grants and scholarships will increase annually to cover any tuition increases over four years. This plan eliminates additional fees and offers a free book option, receiving positive reviews from The Chronicle of Higher Education, Governing magazine, and consumer advocate Clark Howard. In the 2021 U.S. News & World Report ranking of national institutions, the University of Dayton was ranked 37th for “best value” in the United States and tied for 127th overall.

Applications are now open for the University of Dayton Merit Scholarship in the United States. This scholarship is available to international students applying for first-year or transfer undergraduate programs in 2023. Students will experience cultural diversity on campus while pursuing their studies with experienced faculty.

According to data from the International Student Barometer, the University of Dayton is the best university globally, offering numerous opportunities. It is also one of the top 20 colleges for internship opportunities. The university’s immersion program provides a convenient way to master English through the use of UD’s learning and teaching resources.
