The Gates Scholarship for Low-Income Undergraduate Students in the USA, 2023

About The Gates Scholarship

The Gates Scholarship is a program that supports 300 students each year, starting in 2018, for a total of 3,000 students throughout the program. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has a long history of supporting exceptional minority students from low-income households to reach their full potential. With the introduction of this initiative in 2017, they continue this tradition. This esteemed scholarship program is founded on data showing that removing financial obstacles to higher education can help high-potential, low-income minority students excel in their studies, graduate from college, and become leaders throughout their lives.

In addition to financial assistance, The Gates Scholarship provides Scholars with additional support by engaging with them and their institutions in various ways. This ensures they have access to the resources and services they need from the first day of classes to graduation and their transition to their desired careers.

The Gates Scholarship is a competitive last-dollar scholarship that is awarded annually to outstanding student leaders from low-income families. It aims to assist these students in realizing their full potential.
