Undergraduate Scholarships: Engineering

  • Aim and Benefits: The Bill H. James Foundation Scholarship Fund for undergraduates presents annual scholarships, with varying award amounts.
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Must be an American citizen.
    • Must be non-Hispanic and of African American or Black heritage.
    • Undergraduate students starting their junior or senior year of study in the 2023–2024 academic year must enroll in a minimum of 12 units each semester or quarter.
    • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2.
    • Enrollment in an accredited engineering program at a four-year institution in California is a requirement.

    • A one- to two-page essay outlining a future engineering project you aspire to work on. Explain how a more diverse engineering industry could benefit your project.

    • Graduate students pursuing their Master’s degree during the 2023–2024 academic year, with at least two academic semesters or one year remaining, must enroll in a minimum of 8 units per semester or quarter.
    • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2.
    • Enrollment in an accredited engineering program at a four-year institution in California is a requirement.
