Prix W 2023 – Architecture Contest for Students in France

The Wilmotte Foundation invites architecture students and young architects from European Union, Switzerland, Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine, and Georgia to participate in the Prix W 2023 competition. This prestigious award aims to promote architectural and urban grafting for preserving European heritage and its evolution in the contemporary world. The competition offers an opportunity for participants to showcase their creativity and contribute to addressing housing challenges.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Eligible Countries: European Union, Switzerland, Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine, and Georgia
  • Admissible Participants: Architecture students and young architects who graduated after January 1, 2020, from eligible countries/schools.
  • Participation Requirements:
    • Applicants must prove their current or past registration in a school.
    • Participation can be individual or in teams of up to two members.
    • Candidates may only submit one project.
    • Employees of Wilmotte & Associés, current or former, are ineligible to participate directly or indirectly.

Competition Theme: Participants are challenged to choose a roof typology and propose innovative solutions under the theme “A ROOF OVER EVERY BODY’S HEAD.” The project should focus on addressing housing needs for various demographics, including the homeless, low-income individuals, students, and temporary workers.

How to Apply:

  • Participation is free, and registration must be completed online on prixw.com.
  • Applicants must submit their projects online from April 3 to April 11, 2023, via email to [email protected].

Supporting Documents:

  • Graphic documents: Three PDF plates in A1 format and a compilation in A4 format.
  • Content of the boards: Master plans, floor plans, sections/elevations, images, sketches, diagrams, etc.
  • Written documents: A text describing the project (500 words maximum).
  • Administrative documents: Certificate of enrollment or degree from the architecture school.

  • Winning projects will be exhibited in Venice at the Wilmotte Foundation Gallery during the 2023 International Architecture Biennale and included in a dedicated publication.
