About Arizona State University and Scholarship
Arizona State University (ASU), located in the Phoenix metropolitan area, is a prominent public research university. ASU was founded in 1885 by the 13th Arizona Territorial Legislature and has since become one of the largest public universities in the United States in terms of enrollment. The 2023 ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship is designed to support high-achieving international students pursuing approved academic programs during their first academic year. This scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers that may deter some students from participating in global education programs, particularly first-generation college undergraduates. Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to be the first in their families to engage in a global education experience.
In addition to applying for the scholarship, recipients will commit to a follow-up project related to their interests in global education. During the planning phase, scholarship applicants are encouraged to attend various Global Education Office (GEO) seminars and informational sessions. ASU is dedicated to ensuring that first-generation college students have additional funding opportunities to make global education programs an accessible reality, as they are often seen as a milestone in a student’s personal development.

Eligibility Criteria for ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship To be eligible for the ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship for International Students, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a first-generation college student.
- Must demonstrate financial need and have a recent Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services at the time of application.
- Must be in good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
- Must have the equivalent of two full-time semesters’ worth of completed and posted ASU credit hours at the time of application (be a rising sophomore).
- Must provide proof of English language proficiency.
Application Process for ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship Applicants must complete their online application and upload all required documentation through the online application portal to be considered for the ASU Global Education Planning Scholarship.
